Se ricevete una email con oggetto "Attention: Inaccurate whois information." non preoccupatevi... è solo phishing. Questa volta l'email è di fattura inglese, probabilmente inviata a milioni di email prelevate online dagli archivi dell'ente di registrazione domini. Riportiamo interamente l'email. La comunicazione fa leva un grave problema di registrazione relativo a un proprio dominio o di terzi. Si invita a cliccare sui link, apparentemente dell'ente ma che in realtà dirottano verso i siti del phisher. A quale fine? I motivi sono sempre i soliti: truffa e intercettazione di dati riservati. Riportiamo interamente l'email a beneficio di tutti. Nel testo seguente abbiamo rimosso i link del phisher lasciando solo il testo.

On Sun, 2 Nov 2008 18:30:34 +0300 we received a third party complaint of invalid domain contact information in the Whois database for this domain. Whenever we receive a complaint, we are required by ICANN regulations to initiate an investigation as to whether the contact data displaying in the Whois database is valid data or not. If we find that there is invalid or missing data, we contact both the registrant and the account holder and inform them to update the information.

The contact information for the domain which displayed in the Whois database was indeed invalid.
